Conclusion
Sustainability at Cascades originates from their commitment to produce both an innovative and ethical environment. Cascades has been able to create shared value while improving profits. Cascades has been able to do this by continuing to build on more than half a century of sustainable planning. On a yearly basis they have been reducing emissions, improving air quality, properly managing energy and water, and improving their supply chain management. Cascades has reinforced their drive to be sustainable by creating sustainable development plans, which consist of ten priorities that are separated throughout 3 pillars. The first pillar is the Planet, which consist of energy, greenhouse gas, residual materials, and water. The second pillar is Prosperity, which contains sustainable procurement, innovation, and financial performance. Finally, the last pillar is Partners, which is health and safety, employee engagement, and community involvement. After comparing the GRI guidelines to Cascades sustainability reports, it’s noticeable that they invest heavily into innovative ways to create a sustainable business model. Cascades also participates in creating shared value by helping community organizations and helping their employees buy electric vehicles.
