Community Service Project - Daniel

In the course MOREcompassion, it talks about overcoming fear and acting with courage. By acting with courage one needs to show compassion and empathy. Having compassion and empathy are mindsets and skill sets that can be cultivated by gaining a deeper understanding of what each means in through every day practice. When we show compassion and empathy to one another, it will trickle down to creating a better and sustainable world. When one moves away from self-obsession and overconsumption, there’s a key component for creating a more sustainable world. “Compassion and empathy helps us find satisfaction in the quality over quantity. “ One of my favorite parts of doing this course was talking about diversity and inclusion. When it comes to compassion and empathy, there are core skills for eliminating harmful biases and inspiring more inclusive and diverse workplaces. There is ample research to support work places that represent the real world population for gender, ethnicity, and orientation make a better decisions related to just about everything. Before doing this community project, I frequently attend food drives at my local church and one thing that I’ve noticed is once we share more compassion and empathy to others, it automatically propels us into the direction of a sustainable world. I know the idea may seem far-fetched and out of reached because how can giving back to the community help The entire world. But that is exactly where it begins. With each and every one of us. MOREcompassion talks about three ways to create a world where we can share. The first is to focus on yourself. One thing we can do to create a better world is create a better view. When we take yourself emotionally, physically, spiritually, intellectually, and financially, we have more capacity to give to others. The second is socially. Create a better world starts in your home as parents, siblings, family members with our pets with our neighbors. The healthier these core relationships are, the more compassionate our world is. And lastly, serve the world. To have a better world comes with the combine billions of daily acts of kindness and compassion for our communities, animals, ecosystems, and by bringing more harmony between people and the planet. In class we talked about the three peas of sustainability and they are well known and excepted in the business concept. But the three Ps can be shown in ways that we are showing compassion and empathy to the world we live in for not only this generation but the generations to come.
